This week we had a production of Oliver with a Twist, I was chosen to be backstage and change the backdrops for the stage.

Me and my friend did the 2 day performances we had to change the backdrop and put a chair on the stage it was really cool watching the show from the angle but the annoying thing was that there was a light going right into our faces so we couldn’t see much, but it was still really fun to watch. The 2 backdrops we had to change were a London scene and a indoor workhouse scene. I mainly changed the backdrop and my friend did the chair. The production was preformed a totally of 4 times.

Kia Ora, Today at School we had a St Johns worker come to our school to teach us about safety, because we are going to camp and we need to learn about safety for activities we are doing. first we learned about CPR first you have to check if they are breathing and tilt their chin up  which is when someone isn’t breathing you have to press down on the person’s chest 30 times, and then turn them onto their sides so if they grow up hey don’t choke on it, if it is a baby you only use 2 fingers and if I is a child use 1 hand. She told us how to wrap up and arm or a leg if its bleeding. Then they read us a story about someone that got hypothermia and what to do.

Today for my blog I will be telling you ten different ways you can be kind to everyone.

• Open doors for people to show them respect and kindness its a small thing but people appreciate it
• Compliment people if they are feeling down like you hair look nice or your really good at maths something like that
• Help them with their work like if they don’t know an answer in maths, help them figure it out
• If they have nobody to play with play with them our help them to find a friend
• When or if they get hurt help them up and us if they are ok and feeling good
• Say thank you if they give you something/offer you something
• Listen to someone if they are down and encourage them to feel better
• Spend time with family and friends
• Donate your time to a good cause like picking up rubbish or giving food to the homeless
• Do chores around the house for your parents or caregivers like hanging out washing or doing the dishwasher

what things are you going to do to show kindness?

This term for tech we got new subjects I was doing cooking last term and now I’m doing sewing, for sewing we have to make a bag about either climate change, pollution, deforestation and many other things that affect our earth I decided to make a bag about littering. My idea is to have a photo of an angry basketball player on the front and it says “do you think he littered as a kid.” and on the back a photo of him happy and with his family it will say “cause I don’t.” This week was our first week of making them. I had to cut the fabric into my bag shape and them had to him the photos of my basketball player I decided to use photos of Giannis Antetokounmpo for the bag so I got the best photos for my bag and printed them to put them on my bag.

Do you have tech for school, what tech group are you in?

When I grow up I would like to be a NBA player, because I really like basketball and I am pretty good at it. NBA players also make over a million dollars most of the time one NBA player Lebron is even a billionaire so this would take care of any money issues. I would want to become an NBA player as soon as possible some player even got picked to play really young Kobe Bryant got picked straight out of high school at the age of 17! Right now to give me a chance to getting to the NBA I am playing club and school basketball we had club trials last weekend and either made the A or B team and today we have school trials, last year as a year 7 I made the club C team which for me was a big accomplishment I played the entire season and kept practising over the off season.

What would you want to be?

This week we had to make a story, I decided to base my story on a plumber named James, The story is set in a beautiful city. The story originally was meant to be 200 words but it change because that isn’t much so we got a 1000 word limit I used over half of the amount of words I could use with 600 words roughly. James is the kings plumber but secretly James is a agent for a different city and they want to take over so James takes out the king and then places a bomb in the city and explodes the city so they can take over. When we finished the story we had to do a rubric/self assessment the most points we could get is 100 and I got 85 points which is really good.

This year we are doing Leadership, the first thing that happened is  There are 6 groups Pals, Cultural, Events/Media, Stem, The Arts, Special Characters. We had to decide 3 groups that we wanted to be in.  My 3 choices were Pals, Media and The Arts we had to write a letter about why we should be chosen to be put in the group we want. I really wanted to be in Pals because its all about sport and physical stuff. Luckily I got picked to be in Pals, in Pals we split the group in half to work on to different protects half the group are doing a dodge ball tournament, my half of the group are doing a football tournament/games for the year 3 and 4’s. We had to put up posters and go around the classes telling people about it, currently 24 people have signed up for it and maybe more will later.

Since it is Advent and Christmas we had o do a create task about the Advent symbols we had to write a sentence and add a photo of it for example I wrote this for the pink candle the pink candles represents rejoicing and is the third weekend of Christmas. A different example is for the purple candles represent 3 weekends of Christmas/December. All of the symbols we had were Advent wreath, shape, evergreen branches, three purple candles, one purple candle, central white candle, Advent calendar, jesse tree, star, light and candles and Advent colours.

This week in writing we had to make a picture book, to start off we had to create a mood board. The mood board is a way to show what the character is like, such as adding their favourite food, what colors represent them and what they look like. This helps when writing a picture book because while you are writing it you can go back to the mood board and see what the character looks like, eats and what colors they use. I made a total of 2 mood boards one for my main character and the villain/bad guy in the book. The main character is a goblin called Noah the food he likes is apple juice, cotton candy and any type of mint chocolate chip cookies. The bad guy is a Dragon with red and orange fur, a light brown belly made of scales, big silver horns and a ball of fur at the end of its tail.

During the first couple of weeks at school we have started reading books, I decided to read Percy Jackson and the lightning in he first week we had to read chapters 1-4 then answer a couple questions about what we had read.

During the first 4 chapters we had found out that he was a demi-god and his school friend had been his protector and he is taking him to a camp then we had to answer a couple of the question they were.

1. How would you describe Percy Jackson? What are his strengths and weaknesses? He has dyslexia, he can read Latin easy, he is a half blood
2. What do you think about the idea of Greek gods living in secret among humans? Do you find it believable? I think it could be believable if they kept really quiet
3. What is the overall tone of the story so far? Is it funny, scary, exciting, or something else? It is an exciting thriller type of book and a little bit scary in some parts of the book
4. Based on what you know so far, what do you think will happen to Percy at Camp Half-Blood? I think people will give him a hard time but Grover will look after him
5. Do you think Percy will ever be able to live a normal life? Why or why not? I don’t think so because he knows about half blood stuff and he has entered a new place that has other special people

then we had to read chapter 5-8 then answered a couple more questions like

1. Why is the stolen Lightning Bolt important, and how does it affect the story? It is Zeus’s lightning bolt and he is trying to find it
2. How does Percy’s arrival at Camp Half-Blood change him? He learns about new things about Gods having children with normal people and that bad animal monster chase and hunt the demigods and he needs to say there to be protected
